There are three kinds of rangehoods. Fixed rangehoods cover most of the hotplate area and have a considerably larger filter area. Retractable rangehoods have a frame that holds the section you pull out; the fan and light come on and go off as you pull the section out and push it back in; the advantage: once you finish cooking, you can push it out of sight and out of the way. Canopy rangehoods (rather like a freestanding flue in your kitchen) are becoming popular, but can be very expensive compared with the other systems available.

Depending where your canopy is installed, you will need to choose between ducted and recirculating exhaust.

To help make deciding easier, Retravision has a wide range of leading brandrangehoods available, along with all the advice you need to make the right choice.
